The Great Descent of Castelo de Bode is an epic open water swimming competition, divided into 6 stages over 3 days in the stunning Castelo de Bode reservoir.

June 5, 2026 (Thursday)

• Stage 1 (8.5 km): 09:00 - Foz de Alge (Figueiró dos Vinhos) → Dornes River Beach
• Stage 2 (9.5 km): 15:30 - Dornes River Beach → Isna Velha (Vila de Rei)

June 6, 2026 (Friday)

• Stage 3 (4.5 km): 08:30 - Isna Velha → Zaboeira River Beach (Vila de Rei)
• Stage 4 (7.0 km): 11:00 - Zaboeira River Beach → Bairrada River Beach
• Stage 5 (6.5 km): 16:10 - Bairrada River Beach → Fontes River Beach (Abrantes)

June 7, 2026 (Saturday)

• Stage 6 (11.0 km): 10:00 - Fontes River Beach → Aldeia do Mato

Total Distance: ~50 km

📋 Requirements

• Minimum Age: 14 years
• License Required: Portuguese Swimming Federation or equivalent recognized by FINA
• Escort: Each swimmer must be accompanied by kayak or boat (preferably with escort)
